Pioneer Mission in a Pandemic field

When one is told to go forth and be a pioneer in the mission of a world it might seem a difficult task to accept. Yes the story and views of this pandemic have created many challenges and changes to the Christian means and measures of the expression of faith. My wife and I were married also on a Maundy Thursday after the alter was cleared by the grace of the Bishop of our Diocese. We did our union by the will of our Priest and friend to allow a gathering in a new venue, as we were committed to the vow of Marriage by the Old Style Book of Common Prayer Service.

The celebrant had never married anyone in his term as a Priest by that service. He would say after how he was impressed that the language and terms spoken to him in greater sense because the exchange of our vows spoke to the audience about traditions and reasons to understand the purpose of the words of the Bond in the BCP service.

Now as the the seventh year of our proud bond of marriage we are still committed to the work and love of the Parish we live in and do all we can to build up and sustain the community while it struggles to hold itself in limited means. Mankind can not live by words alone or not heed the notion of the very core of Jesus final teaching under extreme circumstance, or concerns.

I went over to the graveyard and trimmed back the stones edges so the winter grass would not obstruct the markers and a few other minor garden task to keep the appearance of cared for, not forgotten and left unattended as some would maybe walk the grounds over the coming weekend time. We must as a people of faith be active and engaged with the church as a site, both inner and outer ways, even if only one or two attend the place, in these times of social distance.

I hope that the time of worship might include self washing of the feet even by the visual act of self washing as the group watches and see the connection of the act of purity is not lost of dismissed this year over previous times and circumstance of before.

Going beyond the path of ease and view of open fields to be a Pioneer Mission person requires more acts of kindness and good effort then walking alone the open trail of another who has been there before. Christ took the same journey in the wilderness and then came to Jerusalem, aboard a Donkey and leading a Colt to the certain case of trial and death for human kind. Not out of fear or doubt but by will and grace to offer to the world ill by concerns and with many people in distress, some he healed and other be inspired to continue to serve and treat and potentially cure by the actions of discipleship and teaching the Gospels and Bible for life.
