Novel Corona Virus 2019 infection rate comparison between Italy and Greece.

In this topic i am presenting an infection outbreak comparison between Italy and Greece.

Although Greece and Italy are close neighbors sharing similar lifestyles,we would have expected that Greece would go over a similar plague. On the contrary Greece is not experiencing a fierce outbreak and it’s interesting to see why. Bellow i am presenting a graph regarding the Infection Rate on both Italy and Greece, starting from the day that the victims in each country started increasing with a rate of 5/day and higher. The start of the outbreak for both countries is not the same since the virus traveled in Greece 7 days later.

It’s also worth mentioning that the gap between Italy’s 1st victim and the outbreak (20 days) is higher than Greece’s (8 days). This could be explained by supposing that Italy underestimated the virus and people with symptoms did not report it but kept following their everyday life.

Regarding the outbreak’s starting date,Italy was most likely more vulnerable since it’s receiving triple tourists per year than Greece. So it’s normal that the virus arrived in Greece later.

The fact that Greece has shut down schools and businesses much earlier than Italy has led to a more stable and lower increase rate of the infected.

I am also presenting the correlation coefficient between Italy’s and Greece’s infected rate . This value shows that Greece’s growth rate is by 37,8% similar to Italy’s which means that Greece is statistically not following Italy’s disaster.
