Why Followers DO NOT MATTER

Okay first we need to clarify something… Followers do matter. “Wait what? But I thought you just said…” — let me explain.

So on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Etc., the metric that usually determines your success on social media is pre-determined by a calculated number of people whom take interest in you or have pressed a colorful “Follow” button. Followers are great, but what you need to focus on is the right followers… Today we’re going to focus for the majority on the Instagram side of things!

The average across-the-board engagement rate on Instagram is hovering around 1.5%. This is because most people generate followers and the followers over-time become less and less relevant to your brand… or in turn, you become less relevant to THEM! There is ways to avoid this!

If you do all those things, you should be in good Insta-Health :)

So back to followers… they are important if you know how to utilize that attention, the followers are not just some 5th grade numbers to make you feel better about your social insecurities… instead they’re the immediate result of your brand’s output. Your followers are a collective representation of you!

Many people get caught up with how many followers you have, which isn’t always a bad thing, but it can be if you get the wrong kind of tunnel vision! Focus more on the engagement side of your profile and reach out to your followers once and a while to build that relationship!

All in all, you need to build your brand around creating a social environment that is ethical, geniune and efficient!
