Just Go For It

A lot of people ask me “How did you start all this?” when they ask about my TikTok channel or podcast. Truly, it started as a fluke. I saw a trend where you could stitch a video with the prompt, “there will never be a TV scene as iconic as this one…” and the first thing that came to mind was one of my comfort shows, MTV’s The Challenge, and my favorite scene from it, dubbed Bananas Backpack.

I stitched the video, posted it, went to bed and forgot about it. I woke up to a viral video and thousands of comments talking about other scenes from the show and people interacting about it. I saw an opportunity to create content about the show, build a platform, and hopefully expand it.

Truth be told, I always wanted to be a content creator. I tried for years to create makeup looks and try to get some recognition from it, but it never took off the way I wanted to. I had fun doing it and even did 31 Days of Halloween one year.

As soon as that video went viral, I immediately starting making content about The Challenge and The Real World. People responded well to a series I started called “Where Are They Now” where I gave updates on past cast members and I spent a lot of time interacting with everyone who commented and getting the pulse of my audience. I even had a notebook with pages of ideas for videos. #CTTuesday was also born and I am not kidding when I say people get mad if I am late posting CT on a Tuesday.

Within 30 days, I had 60,000 followers. I then made a video about Holly Madison and the show The Girls Next Door that surpassed my Bananas Backpack video, and also gave me a door to expand my content beyond The Challenge.

I started thinking about a podcast pretty quickly because I knew it was the logical next step, and because Marie Roda told me to. I talked to one of my besties from high school, who also had a large TikTok platform, Shaun, about doing it together. We were voted Most Likely to Be on the Real World in High School, so we decided to go with the name Most Likely Two. (We did two instead of to because ‘to’ was already taken.) We launched on July 6, 2021. Within 3 months, Shaun decided to leave the podcast to focus on his mental health, I secured an interview with Challenge legend Sarah Rice, and Josh Martinez had blocked me on Twitter. I felt confident in the future.

I’ve learned so much on this wild ride. I’ve made a lot of friends, a few enemies, and I’ve been grateful every step of the way. I’m lucky, but I also work my butt off. I’ve been blessed with followers that allow me to be human and want to know about ME as well as reality tv. My advice for people wanting to create content or start a podcast is simply, “just go for it.” The viral video was a fluke, everything that came after was me going full speed ahead and just going for it.
