Exploring Product Design

What I liked most about this article was the attention to detail. The extra shadow thrown here, the movement of background items, and even having it down to their timezone. I am most definitely less willing to operate an app if the notifications are waiting for me in the morning (excluding social media apps).

I hate hate hate waking up to an app giving me a push notification “Hey! We want to hear your thoughts!” at 7am. Even worse is when the notification says that it appeared at 3am. It’s one thing if my friend sends a funny comment, but a non-human-operated app trying to get me to use their app makes me want to delete it.

I fell in love with their swipe animation, the ability to take a card and throw it to the side is fun, even to watch. The smaller detail of the shadow is great, along with the movement. It’s a way to show them “hey this path exists” without literally saying that.

It was also cool to see how they brainstorm and throw opinions back and forth. They would show their team in extent how their app and revisions worked, and they would wait for each person to respond. It’s a nice and organized (and fun) way of doing things.

Reading this article makes me want to redo my Uber Eats article. I enjoyed the read, and it’s always fun to read how the big leagues operate and try to implement it into my work as well. I didn’t fully understand the loading screen animation but overall the article taught me a lot.
