How to Leverage Your Social Media

Do your research:

This is the part that almost everyone skips because they don’t see the value of doing this first. Doing your research can save you time and money if you’re trying to become an influencer. This is a B2B transaction, you want to make sure you’re working with the right people who can bring value to and bring value to your company. Assuming that you are really into this to provide value and make genuine connections. Ask as many questions as you can before deciding on which company to work with. Not only should you research the companies you want to work with, take time to learn about the community you’ve created from the Instagram platform. The more knowledgeable you are, the better chances you have to land a deal with a company. This is where you plan out how you can leverage the value that you are going to present them. That’s what being an influencer is a about, finding a way to really help a company and leverage that value.

Stuck thinking about what kind of questions to ask yourself? Here are some ideas:

- Who is your Audience?

- Does this company have the same audience as you?

- Are you able to provide them with value?

Really take researching these companies seriously, make sure your goal is to provide them with value. Remember that you are there to try to work with the company, not to try to sell them something. One bad referral can ruin your business.

Write them [A Comapany] a Proposal:

This is where most people start, which is a bad idea if you don’t know about anything about the situation. If you don’t know how to speak to your market, you won’t sell or convince someone to buying anything. This is where your research will do the work for you. Make sure that you are doubling down on value here. Really show the company that you are contacting them because you want to bring value and create a partnership.

There you go, you just sent an influencer proposal to a company. Pat yourself in the back because not a lot of people make it this far. Now you wait. Don’t beat yourself up if they decline you, they’re probably not the right company for you. This doesn’t mean become a bot and message every company in the world. Analyze their response and see if you can improve on anything. If you can’t bring ANY value to a company then you can’t leverage your social media. That’s that harsh truth, find a way to provide value then you are on your way to leveraging your social media accounts.
